In reference to creating a VM Storage policy and Storage Compatibility what is the rules for what is valid and not ?
What allows a datastore to be compatible as opposed to incompatible?
@Knothead00 Any policy rule that would make a vsanDatastore unable to place an object with those rules in a compliant manner.
Example:
Can't place RAID5 object on a Hybrid cluster.
Can't place RAID5 object on an All-Flash cluster which only had 3 nodes (as needs minimum of 4).
Can't place RAID5/6 if cluster only had a vSAN Standard license.
Same goes for everything else that requires X amount of nodes or FDs or nodes per FD, encryption, dedupe-enabled l, number of disks to satisfy stripe-width etc. .
Also, a policy which is for instance vvols based would make the vsandatastore incompatible.
It´s crucial for manage resources
