Unable to remove disk group from vSAN host

Hi,

We have a host with 4 disk groups, each of them consisted of 6 and 7 disks (5 spindles + 1 SSD or 6 spindles + 1 SSD).

Recently we had to remove those SSDs and get them replaced with different vendor models so they are no longer attached to the host. When attempting to remove the disk groups where those SSDs were attached to, we get the following error.

"A general system error occured: Disk is not mounted on this host: <host_UUID>"

That is correct because the SSD is indeed not attached, but we want to remove all the disks groups and start over.

How can we do that?

Thanks.

Have you tried just remove the absent SSD disk? That should remove the whole diskgroup and release all HDD from my experience.

You may need to change FTT = 0 depending on how many hosts are in the cluster.  Thank you, Zach.

Thank you all for your replies.

It seems the issue was fixed when we changed the disks from RAID0 mode to HBA mode.

Again, thank you for the information.
