Sizing VSAN solution with 200TB usable capacity

Hi,

I know there is a VMware VSAN Sizing Tool at

However, it's not updated to support 8TB HDD which is already certified by VMware VSAN.

I am wondering what's the formula to size the VSAN solution to deliver a 200TB usable capacity?

1) Which CPU should I use per node? Are two CPUs needed per node? ( assume 8TB HDD)

2) How big is the memory per node?

3) How many 8TB HDD should I use per node?

4) How many SSD should I use per node? How big is it?

5) How many nodes of the config above is needed?

Thanks a lot.

Po-Shan.

that is very difficult to answer without knowing: 1. How many VMs 2. What type of VMs (how many vCPUs, how active, how much memory, how active?) 3. What level of "failures to tolerate" for VMs on vSAN There are a lot of variables here.

Thanks a lot for your help.

What I want to know is the methodology to size the "Virtual SAN storage". I will add consideration of sizing of "Server Virtualization" after.

Let's assume this Virtual SAN storage is only to be used as "Storage" and the cluster allows one physical x86 server failure without downtime.

Typically,

1) How to size the CPU?

2) How to size the memory ?

3) How to size the capacity/number of SSD ?

4) How to size the capacity/number of HDD? ( Can I assume to use 8TB HDD? )

5) Is 10GbE network required? Are both 10GbaseT (RJ45) and 10GbE (SFP+) supported?

6) How many nodes needed for 200TB usable capacity based on the specification above?

Thanks a lot.
