SQL Server Clustering on VSAN

Can I use SQL Server clustering on a VSAN?  If I'm using blade servers, how many physical disks do I need to have in the blade in order for this to work, assuming I am also booting ESXi from local disks? (HP blades).

Thanks!

Hello~

it's possible using "always on"

http://www.vmware.com/content/dam/digitalmarketing/vmware/en/pdf/products/vsan/vmware-virtual-san-6....

20page.

but, I think you should make VM, "eager zero thick provisioning" for stable clustering.

and.....maybe "always on"  can use when you have a enterprise license.

Good afternoon.  I don't know about clustering.  You could do an availability group.  And you can do Windows Server Failover Clustering.  See page 21 here:  http://www.vmware.com/content/dam/digitalmarketing/vmware/en/pdf/products/vsan/vmware-virtual-san-6....

You need at least 2 disks in each host.  One for the cache tier and one for the capacity tier.  They cannot be used for anything else like the ESX install.  Thank you, Zach.

OK thanks.  Anyone else with input who has done SQL Server clustering on VSAN?  Successes, failures, gotchas?

Another option is StarWind Virtual SAN. It only requires 2-nodes and no witness. It far most cost-effective than "Always on" and very simple to deploy. It will synchronously mirror and replicate your SQL data providing high availability. If that's of interest you can find more info here: StarWind Software – StarWind Virtual SAN® – Starwindsoftware.com
