Prevent "vSAN build recommendation engine health" on system with no internet connection

Hi all,

We have a vSAN cluster that is not connected to the internet and the health check "vSAN build recommendation engine health" comes up as warning, turning the vSAN status yellow.

KB article 2150914 discusses this check and possible causes if it fails.

It looks like the system needs an internet connection for this check to pass?!

Is it possible to have this check pass on a system that has no internet connection??? (without disabling the check;-))

Thanks,

Ed

Hello EdSp,

As per that very kb you mentioned:

"Internet connectivity and valid My VMware (my.vmware.com) credentials are required to download and provide build recommendations."

&

"The following issues might be detected by this check.

Internet access is unavailable.

Check and restore Internet connectivity to ensure that release metadata and VMware compatibility information can be updated correctly."

It is expected for this check to be yellow if you do not have internet connectivity from the cluster thus you have the choice of living with it being yellow or disabling it - considering spoofing an expected alert to not function doesn't really make much sense.

William Lam has a script that will do this, just need to decide which checks you want silenced.
