Mixing Cisco C220 M4 and M5 Nodes in VSAN

All -

I have a customer that has a four Cisco C220 M4 node VSAN cluster looking to add compute/storage in the form of a C220 M5 node.  Are there, or will there be any issues in doing this regarding compatibility?

Thanks in advance

Hello Chadmandu,

Welcome to Communities.

Yes, it is supported to mix different models of servers in a vSAN cluster - provided that the relevant components in all servers are on the vSAN HCL (controllers, Cache-Tier SSD/NVMe and Capacity-tier HDD/SSD/NVMe) or are ReadyNodes.

Do however aim to configure the servers equally with regard to storage capacity, layout and capability (e.g. don't add a server with twice the storage that is half as performant and expect it to not slow the cluster down).

That's great news!

Thanks for the answer and I will aim to do that!
