Is there a way to trick vSAN to use a direct fiber attached storage?

I have a couple of direct fiber attached storage to some hosts. I would like to share them out to the rest of our hosts using vSAN. I realize that vSAN technically requires a direct attached SSD and magnetic spinning drive. My question is it possible to fake out vSAN into thinking those direct fiber attached storage drives are SSD and magnetic spinning drive?

We are interested in basically turning the ESX storage attached hosts into a front end for the rest of the hosts.

Thanks

Check out this article Duncan wrote http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2013/09/02/testing-virtual-san-in-your-lab-with-vsphere-5-5/

and focus on the enable_local setting. It MAY work sometimes but it does not generally. BUT this is ONLY for Testlabs, only for "playing", DON´T try do do something which is not officially supported!! DO. NOT. USE. in ANY production system!
