Decommission vsan cluster

Hi all,

i didnt find any good step-by-step docu to fully decommission a VSAN environment, not only a host.

We migrated from VSAN to another storage solution. Now we want to delete all VSAN components from the cluster, without downtime if possible.

What are the steps  to achieve this?

Thank u in advance

regards

Kevin

It is pretty straight forward:

  • Disable the performance service
  • Make sure all VMs are migrated
  • Delete diskgroups 1 by 1
  • Disable vSAN Service
  • Remove VMkernel interfaces

No need to place them in maintenance mode.

and you could even just skip the "performance services", and the "deletion of diskgroups" steps if you don't care about cleaning the disks.

Thank you for the answer.

Do we need to put the hosts in maintenacne mode or is it possible without that?
