    Posted Jan 18, 2024 12:48 AM

When a host have multiple Disk Group,

    for example:

a disk group all assemble by 900GB 10K drive,

another disk all assemble by 2.4TB 10K drive,

    and when I create datastore,

Can the datastore choose will locate in which disk group ?

    Thanks

Are you talking about vSAN disk group ? In vSAN we can have only one vSAN datastore per cluster, as soon as you create diskgroup in the backend, it will be consumed by vSAN datastore by default, your vSAN datastore size will increase.

    Hi Allen,

VSAN(OSA) Disk Group Consist of 1 Disk as Cache is must and Maximum of 6 Capacity Drive which from a Disk Group. Your Capacity sizing will be decided what capacity of size will Cache have and what capacity will Capacity have.

Each host can consist of maximum 5 Disk groups. Each disk group can have maximum of 7 drive including cache.

All host Disk group is from a single datastore for VSAN Cluster.(VSAN will have only 1 Datastore were all multiple disk groups will contribute ). You can check how each Disk group is utilized .

During VSAN configuration the drive will be detected as cache and capacity and you need to select them manually. .
