Sure, you can do whatever combination you prefer. I guess it also depends on whether you want to enable deduplication or not. With dedupe I would rather fill up diskgroups before hand as much as possible. if you just do compression, or no dedupe or compression at all, then you can mix in anyway you like. personally I would probably do 4+3+3.
