vxlan on vcloud director 5.1

Hi,

I'm trying to set up VXLAN but the vib installation fails.

Network  Virtualization > Preparation > Connectivity > Edit

I choose clusters and teaming policy.

When i apply the settings i see the vxlan-vib install start but fail on the esxi hosts.

esxupdate.log on host:

2013-02-19T21:42:08Z esxupdate: downloader: DEBUG: Downloading http://1.1.1.1:80/eam/vib?id=790677f5-86d3-4e4a-889f-bbc9bc444f54-0 to /tmp/tmpTu4As5...
2013-02-19T21:42:08Z esxupdate: Metadata.pyc: INFO: Unrecognized file vendor-index.xml in Metadata file

Manually downloading the file from URL to the esxi host works fine.

Running

esxi 5.1 914609

vcd 5.1

n&s 5.1.2-997359

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks,

Peter

Just stating the obvious. Do you have any firewall between you ESXi hosts and vCenter and is port 80 open for?

Hi,

No there is no firewall issue between the hosts and the vsm.

I solved the problem by installing the VXLAN VIB through VUM.

You can download the correct VIP on your vShield Manager: https://vsm-ip/bin/vdn/vibs/5.1/vxlan.zip

Import it into VUM as an extension and install it on your hosts.

No reboot required.

This solved the problem for me.

Thanks,
Peter
