vm/ip_address_changed

Hi,

We are seeing quite a few vcd events with the following: "vm/ip_address_changed" logged by owner system.

Anyone seen this before ?

We also have this on loads and loads (if not all) VM's. Also looking into this right now.

By the way, I found out why all the events were being logged in our environment.

This event indicates that the IP adresses on the VM have changed since the last time it was checked. The VMware Tools provide vCenter with the IP adresses that are used within the VM on the GuestOS. If any IP assignment changes within the GuestOS, it will ultimately come back to the vCenter and after that to VCD.

VCD recognizes this change and logs mentioned event. Atleast, that was the case in our environment.

In our case the reason that these events were being logged was because this VM was part of a HA environment (Guest OS Clustered application) that automatically restarts the GuestOS and re-uses the IP adresses on its counterpart, the passive member.

I hope this helped!
