Hi All,
My apologies, as this question may be very basic to most of you.
I am new to vCD 5.5 and wanted to implement it as a pilot phase. I need help on how can I start in terms of components.
I have an setup of two powerful Dell servers installed with ESXi 5.5 (Ent+ lic) and vCenter 5.5 (stnd lic). vCenter is sitting as a vm on the same ESXi host.
I am not sure which component should I start with in order to achieve vCD complete installation with atleast some basic components like (vShield, vCD with DB, Operations, etc)
Any links to good documents will also help!
Thanks!
-Abhishek
Hi Abhishek,
I assume that you aware about the architecture and how product works.
I gather that you already have ESXi 5.5 and vCenter 5.5, please follow below steps to setup a simple vCD Setup.
What you need:
- Cent OS VM
- vShield Manager
- vCloud Installation binary
- Database for vCloud (if you are using vCenter DB, then use MS SQL management studio to perform it)
- Physical switch access to configure VLANS and MTU
How to do it.
- Install Cent OS
- Download and install vCD 5.5 (Do not configure it )
- Create vCD DB (from this KB VMware KB: Installing and configuring a vCloud Director 5.1 or 5.5 database )
- Create Self Signed Or CA Signed Certificate for vCD (http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=102630...)
- Configure vCD using configure script
- Start vCD service and make sure you are able to login
- Deploy VSM and attach with vCenter
- Login to vCD webpage, provide the license
- Attach vCenter and vShield manager
- Follow the vCD Wizard to create pVDC, Org, Org VDC, Network pools, Org networks
.
All the best.
