I've just updated my 1.5.0 enviroment to 1.5.1 because I wanted the following feature:
http://www.vmware.com/support/vcd/doc/rel_notes_vcloud_director_151.html
Firewall rules can be configured with CIDR blocks, IP ranges, and port ranges
vCloud Director 1.5.1 allows you to enter CIDR blocks and IP ranges for the source and destination when creating firewall rules using the UI or REST API. In addition, you can enter port ranges for the source and destination ports using the UI (but not the REST API). If you create a firewall rule that includes port ranges using the UI, you will not be able to query the rule using the REST API.
After the update however nothing has changed when I choose "Configure services" -> Firewall.
I can only configure single IP adresses and no IP ranges.
Can anybody confirm that nothing has changed or maybe this only works with new installations?
It should work, here is an example screenshot that shows sample configurations.
I've just tested with range and CIDR notation. What kind of message are you getting ?
Really weird. I upgraded it yesterday and it would not execept this input as valid.
The error was "not a valid IP"
Now I try again and it works. The error message even states IP ranges....
You're still getting your points, tsugliani!
Thank you...
I wanted to point out be careful using this feature if you use the API or extensions created for vCloud that rely on the API. I believe these ranges are not supported by the API as of the last release - only the web interface.
I saw this issue before once and it was due to a client browser cache issue. Cleared the cache and it worked.
