vCD 5.1.3: vApp deployment - The opration failed becuase no suitable resource available.

Hi Guys,

I tried to deploy a vApp in our vCD here and it always comes up with the message below on the webfrontend:

The operation failed because no suitable resource available.

Checking the vcloud-container-debug.log I can see the following:

2014-05-12 13:35:59,703 | WARN | LocalTaskScheduler-Pool-29 | ResourcePoolStorageFinder  | There is no hub to satisfy the requirement: StorageTier:40960, mandatory:false, checkMinHostCapacity:false, profile: EU-DSC-GLOBAL | vcd=bbd28a6c-10d0-480d-9cd2-e2e03daedeee,task=4679b02a-f67b-4a4d-bcfe-a555d097c24a

Can anyone tell me what could be wrong? I assume it has to do with the storage profile / cluster but there we have enough space and for me it looks all fine...

Thanks

Hi linuxcrash,

I am facing the same problem as you when I deploy a edge gateway and the error message as below:

"Could not find resource pool for placement of edge gateway 27643f0d-62e4-4884-bd6a-1c9e65df70fb. This is because compute, storage or network requirements are not satisfied by any of the resource pools.

- The operation failed because no suitable resource was found. Hub "Resources" doesn't meet compute requirement: NumCpu:4, mandatory:true, checkMinHostCapacity:false."

Did you finish your problem?

Many thanks who can give a suggestion.

linuxcrash, your failure is on storage requirements.  please ensure that there is enough available storage on a single datastore in profile EU-DSC-GLOBAL to support 40GB.

ryanxh, your failure is on cpu requirements.  please ensure all hosts in the provider vDC where this is being deployed are both prepared and enabled,  and then ensure there is enough actual capacity for deploying 4vCPU VM (vcpu * reservation % * vCPU speed) at the Org vDC level.

You gave me a clue.

I change the edge gateway type from full-4 to compact, it is ok now.

Thanks you very much.
