standalone vCloud Director without NFS (10.2)

Hi all,

I am setting up a standalone single VCD 10.2 appliance. Is there no alternative for using NFS (or other shared volume). It add complexity to a so far simple setup.tup

Alternatively i am considering setting up a VM providing NFS. However, what are the pros and cons here? This way i am avoiding any external dependencies (storage). i van keep the VM close to the appliance, but is this an acceptable solution eventually for production? Any thoughts?

NFS on VM is supported as Transfer folder in vCD production environment. You can build NFS server on VM or use a NAS virtual appliance. Please find the details on configuring NFS shared folder in following articles.

A standalone/single appliance VCD deployment still requires a NFS share for media uploads and storage.

It's basically up to you which options is "good enough". VM with NFS, appliance (freenas), storage array with file services and so on are possible. Whichever suits your SLA and recovery demands.
