Vcloud director fast provisioning drawbacks

Hi Team, 

We are using vcloud director 10.2

We have few tenants where we enabled fast provisioning options while setting up the VDC. 

Question, 

While use fast provision option, vm creation speed is good. At the same time, fast provisioning uses linked clone method. 

If any customer mistakenly uses to deploy 10 vms from Windows template(for example),then it will create an issue while we touch the parent template. 

For example, if customer accidentally delete the parent template, then there will be an issue. 

The only option left is disable fast provisioning option while setting up new vdc. 

If any existing customers uses that option(for example, created a vm from template), then there will be an issue? 

How to mitigate this one?

Hi Manivel,

As far as I know fast-provisioning (linked-clones) should primarily used for desktop / training env. use cases, because you cannot change the base image anymore. A possible solution could be to use vApps in combination with Libraries. If deployed on a fast storage tier that handles VAAI block cloning is should be quite usable.
