Hello All,
I am going through my first vcd 8.2 deployment after quite a few 5.x deployments and have come across an issue.
When I create a new pVDC vcd creates a new transport zone in nsx for me but the default seems to set it up with multicast as the control pane mode is there a way to change the default to unicast to save me having to manually change it every time I create a new pVDC?
Thanks
Ashley
Ashley,
Is your problem somewhat similar to https://anthonyspiteri.net/vcloud-director-9-0-manual-quick-fix-for-vxlan-network-pool-error/
This is the way it works in vCloud Director 8.x (and earlier) unfortunately - the VXLAN transport network is created behind the scenes by vCloud Director (even if there's one already defined) and it's always set to Multicast - you can change it afterwards, but until you do your transport network won't function in a Unicast-only environment.
In vCloud Director 9 you can select an existing VXLAN transport network when configuring the network pool (and can of course pre-create this as Unicast prior to configuring the network pool in vCD) which gets around the issue - it also allows you to use a transport network that spans vCenter clusters (before a new transport network would get created for each cluster added).
I'm not aware of any supported workaround for this in vCD 8.20, but you might consider using v9.0 instead?
