Unable to Enable Host when the host added to the vCloud Director was in “Available” state but was in “Disable” mode

Hi ,

I am new to vCloud. I Have setup vCloud Director  in my local environment. The installation was a  success  and am able to  add vCenter,vSheild  ,created organization etc…but the issue is that  the host added to the vCloud Director was in “Available” state but  was in “Disable” mode; even the option to enable the host in the context menu seems to be disabled (Snapshot Attached for reference)

Kindly suggest

It seems like the host preparations has failed - in other words vCD was not able install the vslad agent on the host. Please post the following:

1. Screenshot of the error message after you click on 'Cannot Install' status

2. What is the version of VC and ESX?

Also check for any connectivity issues between the vCD and the host.

Thanks,

Sangeeta

Hi

If you can click on the "failed to install" link and send us a screen shot of the error that will probably explain why it is failing. For it to install the hosts needs to be put into maintenence mode and rebooted so you'll need to migrate all the virtual machines off of that host. The bear minimum for a vCloud environment is two hosts in a DRS cluster and from your screenshot you seem to only have one? Also i'm assuming you've made the vCloud server a virtual machine on that one host so the installation and further steps in the setup will all fail until you have added a second host to your vCloud cluster

Regards

Gregg
