Trying to use the VMRC console with Ubuntu 13.10 and Firefox 25

A little background

I have the console working fine in Ubuntu 12.04 and Firefox 25, but in another partition I have installed 13.10 to test before upgrading, the console onto the vcloud VM's does not work.

It attempts to connect, but then fails with no error.

Here are the versions on the working OS:

VMware Remote Console Plug-in for vCloud Director 1.5

Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202

Firefox 25

Ubuntu 12.04.3 fully patch -  3.8.0-29-generic kernel

As the version of the browser and flash are the same , also the vcloud director plugin is the same, is there another OS component that could be causing this problem?

Is anyone else seeing this, or come across a similar problem.

Are there newer versions of the VMRC plugin that I could try, I have looked and not been able to see one.

Thanks in advance

Hi  Nick,

Could you post the VMRC log files? That may reveal more on what's occurring. Locations can be found here: http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2001071.

As well, do you have any proxies or firewalls enabled?

Hi Eric,

Yes, there are proxies configured - though that is true on both versions of the OS, 12.04 and 13.10. No firewalls on the clients.

I will boot into the 13.10 partition later and examine those logs to see if anything is visible.

Cheers

Nick
