Problem with adding new storage profile to provider VDCs

Hi All,

I've problem with adding new storage profile to provider VDCs .

My ENV :

VCD Version 5.5 latest

vCenter 5.5

VCDDB - SQL

I created the environment with two storage profile at the first time and it's work fine (the storage profile created before i attached the vCenter on the VCD)

I created the tags and assigned it to the datastore and i can see the new VM Storage Policy via the vSphere web client.

I also can see on the VCDDB on table dbo.storage_profile_inv the new VM Storage Policy and when i create new provider VDCs i don't see it.

What i try :

1. Refresh the storage profile via the VCD (Right click on the attached vCenter)

2. Restart the Inventory and profile driven servers on the vCenter

3. Restart vCenter and VCD servers

please help

I am not sure if you are hitting it, but a bug exists in VCD 5.5.1 (and I think maybe 5.5) where storage profiles do not work if created after the vCenter has been attached.  I know VMware support has a workaround for this (assuming that is what you are hitting).  I think the process is to stop the cloud, delete from data from the INV tables, and start the cloud back up.  But for this process better be safe and call VMware support.

Before you do that ... did you add the Storage Policy to the Provider vDC?  e.g. go to the providers list and double click it, storage policies, add it there?

Hi,

i don't see the new storage policies under the new or existing provider vDC

but the KB 2075366 help me.

1. I backup the database

2. Stop the VCD Service

3. Run the SQL Query

4. Start the VCD Service

5. refresh the storage policy from the VCD website (right click on the vCenter)

after few min i saw the new storage policy on new or existing provider vDC

thanks iamTHEvilONE!
