Original IP address is not retained when deploying a vApp

Hi all

I need to import VMs into a vApp in vCloud Director, and when I deploy from the templates, I need the VMs to retain their original IP addresses.

Can this be done, as I'm seeing an extra NIC being added every time, and it loses the IP address?

Turns out it was due to this issue: VMware KB: Deploying Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 7 templates with vmxnet3 renames the NIC as #2

I changed the adapters to E1000, and the static IPs were retained.

How about turning off the guest customization?

Thanks Raog, I started testing turning this off, but a new network adapter is still being added, using DHCP as default.

When adding a vAPP to a catalog, ensure you select “Make Identical Copy” . This will preserve all the settings when deploying Vapps later. The screenshot attached should make it more clearer which option I am talking about.
