Managemet network esxi nested randomly lose

HI guys!,,

i,ve 4 vApps with 7vms each ( 2 vcenter, 1Dc, 1 nexenta and 2 esxi 5.5)

my problem only only happens on esxi, these esxi lose the connectivity randomly.

I,ve configured all portgroups of vshield with promiscues mode and forged transmit and works all perfectly less esxi. These esxi lose the connectivirty randomly but i do ping to esxi  then esxi dont lose the connectivirty.

i Always need restart management network from dcui and i do ping

DO you know about IT?

thanks in advanced

No sure if this could be it (but a couple things cause us issues with nested ESX sometimes)

1. Nic Type ..  E1000e is only thing that seems to work with ESXi 5.5 nested; e1000 does not do jumbo frames correctly; and vxnet seems to drop connections once and a while.

2. MAC address.  If you clones your ESX they will have the same MAC on new nics (nic 2,3,4 ect) first one gets fixed, but the others do not in the OS.  Check that - can really cause havoc.

After connection is restored you can see any event on ESXi about network connectivity ? The ESXi only disconnect from vCenter or you can neither ping the host ?

HI Richardson!!

BOTH THINGS,!! Esxi lose the connectivirty fully. Vcenter dont see esxi and I can not to ping to esxi.

Its strange than I do ping to esxi then the connectivity doesn,t fall, Windos machines no problem only ESXi have the problem.

When I lose the connectivity then from DCUI restart (Management Network) and i do ping. So esxi dont fall.

If i stop the ping in few minutes lose connectivity.

MY virtual machines running on vCloud director 5.5 ,vshield 5.2 and vsphere 5.1. vShield Edge Gateway and vShield Edge have the firewall disabled.

ALl virtual wire from vshield have promiscues mode and forged transmit in accept mode

Do you configured the MTU of vSwitch to 1600 ? Check the comment at this blog post: http://www.virtuallyghetto.com/2013/05/how-to-enable-nested-esxi-using-vxlan.html
