Linux Guest Customization fails: Error expanding cabinet

We've just started working with vCloud Director and already we've hit a major snag. None of our Linux VMs are customizing.. The customization log has the following errors:

ENTER STATE INPROGRESS

Reading cabinet file /tmp/52076450/unix_deployment_package.tar.gz.

Creating directory /tmp
Creating directory /tmp/.vmware
Creating directory /tmp/.vmware/linux
Creating directory /tmp/.vmware/linux/deploy
Extracting package files.

Setting deploy error: Error expanding cabinet. (Error opening cabinet file.)

Deploy error: Error expanding cabinet. (Error opening cabinet file.)

Package deploy failed in DeployPkg_DeployPackageFromFile
## Closing log

This seems to be some kind of issue with the unix_deployment_package.tar.gz in vCloud. Ours (located at /opt/vmware/cloud-director/guestcustomization/unix_deployment_package.tar.gz) is definantly not a real tar.gz file, it's a 556-byte binary file with a header containing VMWAREDEPLOYPKG_. Can anyone else running vCloud check and see if their file is different?

Thanks,

Just some info for anyone who might run into the same problem: This issue was because we were testing vCloud Director on CentOS. It appears that only Redhat Enterprise Linux will generate the unix_deployment_package.tar.gz correctly.
