How to get VM MetaData from inside the VM

Is there an API available that I can use to get information about the VM using a script inside the VM? In particular, I would like to have a powershell script run on my VM that be able to determine the which organization it belongs to.

afaik, metadata is only outward facing.  e.g. an API client to vCloud Director (or the vCloud Director UI).  unless you target the vCD REST API (via powerCLI or similar).

This question has been asked before, and I think the same answer is posted here in the forums (I just can't find it for the life of me).
