How to forcefully remove/unprepare a host?

Howdy,

In the Manage&Monitor->Hosts tab I have a host which can't be repaired or unprepared. I can enable and disable it but it just won't go away. VCD has IP connectivity to that host.

Is there a way to forcefully remove a host?

What I am after is starting from scratch (this is a lab) without re-installing everything or reverting to snapshots. Because of that stale host I can't detach the current vCenter. The GUI says "prepared hosts still exist".

Thanks,

Chris.

Hi Chris,

Is 'prepare host' option available to you? If yes, use that option to prepare the host. If it's not available, then the only way is the following:

1. Go to VC using vSphere Client

2. Detach and remove the host from VC

3. reattach the host to VC

4. Prepare the host from the vCloud UI

This should work.

Thanks,

Sangeeta

BTW I checked KB 1025716 but there's no trace of vslad on the ESXi host that won't unprepare/get removed:

/opt/vmware/uninstallers # ls
VMware-aam-ha-uninstall.sh  VMware-vpxa-uninstall.sh
/opt/vmware/uninstallers # cd /

~ # find . -name "*vsla*" -print
~ #

Couldn't repair or unprepare until I followed the same procedure. Thanks!
