Hi Sundervel,

I blogged about setting vCloud Director up in a Homelab Environment, look here:

http://www.vdicloud.nl/?p=416 Part 1

http://www.vdicloud.nl/?p=447 Part 2

http://www.vdicloud.nl/?p=470 Part 3

http://www.vdicloud.nl/?p=535 Part 4

Not everything is needed (vyatta) or supported (CentOS) and (Oracle 10g Express). So if it's not for a Homelab you'll need a (Redhat) and (Oracle 10g or 11g standard or higher)

Hope you can go further with this, in Part 1 there are also a couple of very interesting posts.

Greets,

Arjan

Hi Faustina,

Thanks for your reply....

I have learned and tried some private cloud enabling Software’s successfully at my home lab .
I came to know about vCloud Director. I am totally new to VMWare environment and have just started reading documents and was bit confused.

I have 2 servers with ESXi 4.X installed, 2 windows server one with VCenter and other with VSphere installations.
I have downloaded VMware vCloud Director, VMware vShield App and VMware vShield Edge.

can u help me whether my understanding is correct .

I have to have a VM with Red Hat enterprise linux 5 installed and also need to install VMware vCloud Director
Next, I have to install VMware vShield Manager as a VM, followed by the Vcloud Director database (Oracle 10g ) which needs to be configured with Vcloud Directory

Then I have to follow these procedures to access VCloud

• Establish Provider Virtual Datacenters (Prov vDCs)
• Establish Organizations
• Establish Networking Options – Private vCloud
• Create vApp Templates and Media Catalogs
• Establish Policies
• Accessing vCloud
