Consolidate timed out, any way to recover the vm?

Hey I was consolidating vm's in a vApp and one of our big ones timed out and we cannot do anything with the vm (start, add to catalog, clear the error, whatever).
We have been trying to use the REST api and poke around to see if we can do something about the error, but no luck so far.

does anyone have any suggestions on how to recover this timed out vm?

We have had a similar problem when one of cells fails and vApp became unmanageable. We fixed this by finding the vApp entry in the DB and changing the vApp_status to RESOLVED. This restored the vApp successfully for us an we have not had any issues since.

That said the task you where performing may cause you more issues than us. If you wish to give it a try I believe the table to look in is ui_vapp_list_view in the vcloud DB.

Good luck Smiley Happy

Thanks,

It seems the consolidate timed out but finished eventually in the background. We can start it via vSphere and it runs fine, just need to change the status so we can manage it again from VCD

Edit: in the end rebooting the VCD server allowed us to clear the error
