without domain controll vcenter 7 install

In the environment where I will install a new cluster esxi 7 and vcenter 7 , there is currently no domain control. Can I install vcenter without domain control? This will be a production environment, can I then install the domain and get vcenter to the domain?

Hi, yes you can... after initial set up you'll see there's vsphere.local domain there... under single sign on you can create user within vsphere.local.

Later on, when you've installed domain controller you can join domain under Configuration - Active Directory Domain - Join AD and also add your AD as Identity Source in Configuration.

Yes, you can join VC to the domain at any time. Please use - /opt/likewise/bin/domainjoin-cli.

Please refer to this KB for detailed procedure -https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/50112055
