Blow that 5.1 vCenter away and start with something in recent memory? In all seriousness, that version is so old (and was so problematic) that you stand better chances of just building a new vCenter on a more recent version.

Agree with the previous comment. 5.1 was pretty much DOA and should not be used anymore. Switching to something more recent 6.5u2, 6.7u1 will be highly advisable.

Look at the services. it vSphere 6.* version as I can see PSC service on the service console.

vCenter server service is in manual mode.

Please change the service type to automatic and start the service.

I know is old but I was thinking to just try to fix errors and then migrate to 6.5 or 6.7 vCenter. I don't have so much experience with vmware.

Maybe is much easy just to wipe out this vCenter and build a new one.

Thanks all of you for advice..I will post an update.

You can try this:

  1. Go the services.msc
  2. Double click the service which you are trying to start.
  3. Take the Logon Tab
  4. Change Log on as: to Local System account.
  5. Try starting the service after this change.

You are on VC 6.x(VM) which is on ESXi 5.1 . It is highly recommended to be on ESXi 6.0 or later but that is not the cause of failure here.

Also do not start any VMware services from services.msc from 6.x version onwards. You should use service-control .

VMware Knowledge Base

Follow the KB and do a stop all and start all and check which services fail.

If still it fails at VSM then check the below logs and update here

C:\ProgramData\VMware\vCenterServer\logs\vsm\

Check vsm.log and wrapper.log

AJ
