virtual machine failed when I used VDP backup virtual machines.
Error Code:operation failed duo to existing snapshot.
in snap manager no snapshot, but in virtual machine directory: i can found some xxxx-00001.vmdk , xxxx-0002.vmdk
how to do solve it .
this issue has been solved by change the virtual machines datastore, moved the virtual machine storage to another storage, then the xxxx-00001.vmdk file auto disappeared.
and then the backup job normal.
What you may try to do is to create a new snapshot in the Snapshot Manager, and then click the "Delete All" button. This will consolidate all existing snapshots, i.e. merge the deltas in the snapshot into the base disk.

I tired your method, but they're can't be megred.
What error message you're getting when trying take a new snapshot and use "Delete All" option ?
I suspect you're unable to delete snapshot due locked files, but can't confirm this without know the error message, anyway take a look at this KB article: VMware KB: Unable to delete the virtual machine snapshot due to locked files
Does the VDP appliance still have the VM's snapshots attached? If so, I'd suggest you shutdown the VDP appliance (if no backup jobs are currently active) and then detach the snapshot virtual disks from the VDP appliance. You should then be able to delete the VM's snapshots.
André
VDP appliance don't have the vm snapshot attached, the delta file was only reside virtual machine directory. format is xxx-00001.vmdk and xxx-0002.vmdk.
Again, what error message you're getting when trying take a new snapshot and use "Delete All" option ?
when I took a snapshot and gone to snapshot manager , delete all , everything is ok ,no error message.
I tried to use command /etc/init.d/host restart # /etc/init.d/vpxa restart , then consolidate snapshot , this's no help.
the xxxx-00001.vmdk xxxx-00002.vmdk ,These files are still exist, has not disappeared..
no, I want to connect ESXI host via ILO then ,restart the esxi host management agent services manually, try again.
I don't know if it will be helpful.
My case: before My VDP server crashed, then I directed the vdp server, I forgot to delete the attach disk in vdp server ,
so in virtual machine directory , I can saw xxxx-00001.vmdk xxxx-00002.vmdk, Now I have Deployed a new VDP server ,
can't be backup those virtual machines .
I tried many ways , but can't deleted them.
verify if the VM is running on the base disk or the snapshot disk, If its pointing to base disk then you can deleted the snapshot files safely from the data store. If the VM is pointing to the snapshots then try using a VMware converter to clone of the disk
