vcenter update

I will vcenter update from 6.5 u1 to 6.5 u2. Where can I download the last update package 6.5 u2 ? ı use vcenter appliance

how to update the vcenter appliance from 6.5 u1 to 6.5 u2 ? Will I need vcenter appliance root and administrator@vsphere.local password during the update ?  forgot these passwords I can only login to vsphere client with another admin user.

And yes, you need at least the root password of the Appliance Backend for the upgrade to U2.

Hello,

Hope you are doing well.

To patch the vcenter appliance you have to take the following steps.

Pr e-requisites in Sequence

1. Create a Snapshot of PSC and VC Appliance VMs

2. Disable Lockdown Mode on Hosts running PSC and VC Appliance VMs

3. Restart the all PSC and VC VMs before start to ensure clean boot, do 1 at a time

    1. Login to Management Console of each VM, start with PSC and then VC

    2. Go to Summary > Reboot Appliance

    3. Validate Login Note:Web Client takes several minutes to start-up

4. Export all dvSwitch Configurations

     1. Login Web Client

      2. Go to Networking View

      3. Select the dvSwitch name > Actions > Settings > Export Configuration > save will all port groups to zip file

4. repeat for all dvSwitches in vCenter

5. Download and connect the Vcenter Appliance ISO to PSC and VC Appliance VMs

Preparing for Upgrade

1. Ensure Credentials of root of VM management console

2. Ensure Administrator@vpshere.local Credentials Access to vCenter

Installation Perform Installation in Below Sequence

1. PSC 1

2. PSC 2

3. VC

1. Login to Management Console – https://PSCname:5480

2. Go to Updates

3. Check Updates from CD-ROM

4. Install Updates

5. Accept Agreement

6. Go to Summary > Reboot Appliance

7. Re-Login to Management Console – https://PSCName:5480

8. Go to Updates

9. Validate the Build on ISO file matches the updated version

If you have Embeded vCenter Appliance then no PSC will not be available.
