vcenter install

i will install new vcenter 6.5. i have vcenter 6.0 but i will not upgarde or migration it  so it will be new install . now i want to learn that is the problem if I do a new installation with the old vcenter name and ip address .

Of course there's a problem if you install new vCenter with same name/ip address on same network/environment. If you going to test or explore features of vCenter 6.5, deploy with different setup including different hostname and IP address. If vCenter 6.0 is in production, do not play around with its configuration Smiley Happy

No its not a problem.

If you rejoin the hosts i would suggest to remove them and than add them again. So you can be sure than all Certs, Keys and IPs are changed.

It is a problem if the old vCenter is still running. 😉

And it can also become relatively cumbersome depending on which features or products he otherwise uses. For example dvSwitches, Profiles, NSX, vSAN or vROps.

vDS configuration can be exportet and importet again.

For sure you have to reinstall every 3rd. Partytool, Backup and so on which connects to vCenter (new SSL Cert and SSO).
