no problem to ESXi host, data flow will continue as data plane of vDS is with ESXi host.

only control plane of vDS is with vCetner server so, you won't be able to re-configure your vDS during unavailability of vCenter server.

If Vcenter Down distributed switch will continues to operate without affecting your ESXI.

You will not be able to perform  any new changes due to the unavailability of your vCenter Server.

you will not face any issue related to I/O this means your VMs can still send and receive the data but if you want to modify the settings of distributed switch then you cannot modify the settings.
