vcenter 6.5 - 503 Service Unavailable - certificate renew fails

Hi everyone,

I have an older vcenter version 6.5 that I need to get back working... Currently the vcenter website shows an error:

"503 Service Unavailable (Failed to connect to endpoint: [N7Vmacore4Http20NamedPipeServiceSpecE:0x000055e0feb718e0] _serverNamespace = / action = Allow _pipeName =/var/run/vmware/vpxd-webserver-pipe)"

I searched for problems and found out that this could be a certificate problem so I tried to renew certificates with /usr/lib/vmware-vmca/bin/certificate-manager.

The problem is that the progress is stopping at 85% and then rolling back.

It looks like the following to services will not start:

StartPending:
vmware-vapi-endpoint vmware-vpxd-svcs

Do you have any ideas? My goal is to update the system anyway - but for me moment I need it back working 😕

The only reason why Certificate replacement fails - you have wrongly generated that CA template or wrongly added them to vCenter.

Are you adding CA via GUI or via Cert mgmt in ssh?
