I've stood up a new 5.1 ua1 VC VM on windows for our dev VI. The VI has some local storage along with an NFS datastore.
I have stood up a new 5.1 Data Protection Appliance using thin provisioned disks since it over 1T thick (yes I understand the performance implications).
I need to work on my NFS array and am finding that when I attempt to migrate the VM as all thin to a local datastore, it starts to migrate the whole thing as thick!
Anybody got a clue as to why it would do this? The esxi hosts are licensed as Essentials Plus which does not give live svmotion (thanks a lot VMware) but I should still be able to retain the disk format one would think.
