vCenter MSCS - How to update the vCenter?

Hi all,

I successfully installed a vCenter MSCS.

Is there a common way to update the vCenter running on that cluster?

I tried to update with the installer ISO on the node which has the service role running.

The problem is that the installer stops (or try to) the corresponding services but the cluster is restarting the service immediately.

Are there any documentation about such a case or a best practice?

Regards,

I ran into the same issue late last year. (vCenter 6 running in WSFC)

Works fine if you don't need to make updates.

Otherwise, you can try this.

* Break Cluster and power down Node #2. (will eventually go away)

*Update primary node (Node #1) and make clone (disconnect vNICs)

* Reinstall cluster
* Capture 1st VM (Node #1) hostname and IP during vCenter update, this is going to be the Cluster Role name
* After second VM (Node #2) of cluster is cloned change the name and IP of first VM and assign 1st VM original hostname and IP to Cluster Role

Good luck staying with this setup. (I had to change the design of our environment and eliminate the WSFC piece completely due to unsupported/undocumented upgrade processes)

this thread is very concerning as I currently trying to implement a MSCS vcenter into our environment.

Does anyone have a MSCS vcenter running production workload?
