Hello, we are running a VCSA appliance as a virtual machine. I initiated a patch of vCenter 6.0 as per below to get the latest patches for the system hoping to for stability.
Security Patch for VMware vCenter Server 6.0 Update 3 (2147230) | VMware KB
Everything seemed to work fine during the patch and I rebooted once it said success at the end.
Now upon reboot, I am experiencing strange behaviours.
I can login via vSphere client and I can see all the VM hosts.
But I can ssh into the server or even get to the console. After I enter the login name, the console just hangs waiting for a password.it hangs for almost 15 to 20 minutes.
I can get to the web application by entering https://ipaddress/ without issue.
Entering https://ipaddress/vsphere-client shows an error
Trying to go to https://ipaddress/invsvc/mob1
also hangs.
I also see an error during bootup that states
/etc/vmware/wrapper_common.conf
and encoding declaration is missing from top of configuration file.
I checked the file system in rescue mode.I see /storage/core is at 100% but the rest have free space.
Anyone have any suggestions to where to start?
"503 service unavailable" error when connecting to vSphere Web Client (2121043) | VMware KB
If you are seeing 100% space usage on any filesystem, that's bad and you need to free up space or else everything else is small potatoes. Do a df -h to identify the filesystem affected.
Ok. I logged and and cleared and deleted the tarred core dump files under /storage/core
That freed it up.
But the system is still ridiculously slow on booting. Taking hours to start up vSphere web client.
