vCenter 5.5 Update 3A and ESXi 5.5 Update 3B hosts...what gives?

We have a test lab setup with vCenter 5.5 Update 3A (Build 3568722) with a few ESXi 5.5 hosts. Our hosts were a bit behind patching so our admins were tasked to upgrade the hosts to 5.5 Update 3A. We told them to stop at 3A because of the known issue related to SSLv3 being disabled in 5.5 Update 3B. We were not quite ready to upgrade our vCenter server to 3B yet.

Well by accident two hosts were fully patched with all the latest patches including 3B. The hosts are at build 3568722.

To our surprise the hosts connected to vCenter no problem. We have been stress testing them the last two days. Multiple host reboots, vMotions, enter/exit maintenance mode, rebooted vCenter ect... no issues. Everything is working great.

Anyone know what gives? All the VMware documents say you cannot upgrade your hosts to 3B until first upgrade your vCenter to 3B.
