vCenter 4.1 Upgrade to 5.x SQL Server

Hi All,

Im looking at upgrading my vCenter 4.1 installation to vCenter 5.x.

As per the below link please can someone confirm that by upgrading it will automatically upgrade the database to a supported level?

Thanks in advance.....

The vCenter Server installation wizard will upgrade the database automatically, BUT you SQL Server must be supported by vCenter Server 5.5

Please, check the VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes for the supported SQL Server version.

Thanks Richardson. I see that SQL should be minimum of SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1. Are you aware of any upgrade guides to upgrade current SQL Express to a later version for vCenter?

Unfortunately we are using SQL Express 2005 which isn't. We will have to upgrade to SQL 2008R2 SP1 Express but i can't seem to find any documentation on the process.
