vCSA HA Best Practices

Hi guys, how are you doing?

I'm using a vCenter Server in a datacenter and I want to migrate do the vCSA, but it lacks of Linked-Mode and Heartbeat.

How can I achieve an acceptable level of high availability using the vCSA? Does anyone use vCSA in a large scale environment?

Cheers, Jonatas B.

Within vCenter Server Appliance 5.5 using external database, there is no difference for the vCenter Windows version in scalability (managed hosts and virtual machines).

About vCenter Server Heartbeat, this product is End of Life, then even in vCenter Windows version, VMware recommends use vSphere HA (High Availability) to protect yout vCenter VM... and in the next release of vSphere you will be able to protect the vCenter VM using FT (Fault Tolerance)... read more about vCenter Server Heartbeat EOL: High Availability for Virtual Infrastructure: vCenter Server Heartbeat | United States

Thanks man! I read something about it but didn't imagine that it was so simple. We could also create a separated cluster for VMware services, to separate the eggs from the same basket.

Cheers.
