updating esxi5.5 to 5.5 update 2

Im in the process to update esxi5.5 1331820 to esxi5.5 update 2

I would like to know if there is any pre-requis to check before doing upgrade.

pls let me know if there is an process link for that.

Also to update esxi5.5 to update2 do we need to update vcenter from 5.5 to 5.5 update2, also do we require to udpate vcenter client too.

Good Morning,

First you must upgrade to vCenter Update 2 but is not a rule, vsphere 5.5 update 1 will work with vCenter Update 2.

In the case of atulização vSphere you should pay attention to a single thing.

VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes

1-hardware makers such as Dell, IBM and HP always has its vSphere approved for your hardware, in the case of vSphere 5.5 Update 2 see before the update if the manufacturer of your hardware has already approved vSphere 5.5, manufacturers always have in your sites images (ISO) already customized for your hardware.

2-If the manufacturer does not have the image recommend you do not update to not have a problem with firmware incompatibility drives.

First, you need make sure your hardware are on VMware HCL: VMware Compatibility Guide: System Search

Take a look on release notes: VMware ESXi 5.5 Update 2 Release Notes and the best practices for upgrading ESXi: VMware KB: Installing or upgrading to ESXi 5.5 best practices

You don't need upgrade the vCenter to Update 2, since the vCenter 5.5 supports ESXi 5.5 Update 2 (see image below), but I recommend you upgrade the vCenter if possible.
