update vcenter 5.5 update 1 to vcenter 5.5 update 2

i have updated my ESXi host to 5.5 update 2 (at least the host reports there are no updates for it) and now i am trying to update the vcenter part of the house please see questions below thanks.

what is the easiest and fastest way to update the vcenter install?

do i even have to do this?

Update in this order:
SSO->NGC->inventory service->VC

It is always better to have your environment on the same versions plus the fact that there are several issues fixed in each update. You can go through the readme file for the list of fixes.

You will have to update each of the vCenter components individually.

Starting from 5.5 U2 you will not be able to update all the components by running a simple install like before.

I suggest you take a backup of vCenter DB before you proceed with the update. It will take you less than an hour. There is no simple way.

Of course its simpler if its a vCSA. All you need to do is login into admin portal and check and install updates Smiley Happy
