unable to login because you do not have permission on any vcenter server systems connected to this

Getting this error when new user login on Vcenter - unable to login because you do not have permission on any vcenter server systems connected to this client.

I think I need to add that user into some group. But I am not getting this option.

Hi Tony281081

You will need to assign a role to the user. This can be done by going to menu > Administration > Global Permissions. Then assign the role that the users requires. If you want to restrict the access you can create your own custom role and assignment.

If you have a vCenter integrated with Active Directory  you can create AD groups and assign roles against that so it will be easier than apply roles individually to different users.

What if there is no "Global Permissions" section?

I've just installed vCenter and can't login with root account.

You don't use root to log on to the main vcenter interface, only ssh, and the 5480 management interfaces. You logon inititally with the administrator@vsphere.local you created during setup
