Hi to all. I have a number of VM's. I will use a file server as an example. I have 3 disks provisoned:
D1: 40GB Thin (OS)
D2: 250GB Thick EZ
D3: 250GB Thick EZ
Over time data has been deleted from disks 2 and 3. Am I correct to think running sdelete against the disk within the guest OS will NOT make the vmdk files smaller as they are Thick Eager Zeroed disks?
I want to reduce the size of my backups.
There is plenty of documentation regards reclaiming space from thin provisoned disks using sdelete and storage vMotion.
Kind Regards,
Phil.
That is correct since the disks are Thick Provisioned vmdk size will not change -
