Hi,

Every time that i  export a VM machine to an OVF file it seems that the file is too big.I would like to know how can i  to reduce the size of the file because it is too large??

I am using VCenter 5.1.

Why not use an OVA which is a a TARball of the OVF files, and then use gzip or ZIP to compress it further?

OVF size depends on the vmdk size of your VM. You can reduce the size of OVF by changing the disk type to Thin Provisioning...

When should I make the change to thin prov? Before I export the machine?

Yes. But in that too, if your drives are completely occupied with files then ovf file size will be large...

Then I guess the VM is fully loaded, that's why the OVF size is also large...

If that's the case nothing can be done...
