I am getting an error joining a host to a newly install vCenter:
"Cannot contact the specified host (IP address). The host may not be available on the network, a network configuration problem may exist, or the management services for this host may not be responding."
vCenter: 6.5.0 Build 4944578 on Windows 2012R2
ESXI host: 6.5.0 (Build 4564106)
Attached is the vpxd.log from vCenter and vmkernel.log and hostd.log from the ESXI host.
Any ideas what is going on here?
Thanks,
Luke
Hello
For ESXi 6.0 there is no KB for this , but I got backtrace
--> Result:
--> (vim.fault.SSLVerifyFault) {
--> faultCause = (vmodl.MethodFault) null,
--> faultMessage = <unset>,
--> selfSigned = false,
--> thumbprint = "2D:D0:02:DF:62:29:26:F1:C7:3E:1B:5B:FB:5C:78:4E:8A:09:C0:2C"
--> msg = ""
--> }
You can try this KB,
This issue occurs when SSL authentication is disabled on the host.
Cannot add or connect an ESXi 4.1 host to vCenter Server 5.x (2037351) | VMware KB
You've the required ports open between your vCenter and the ESXi host? Is your ESXi host using a public IP?
I already had that SSL option turned off.
Luke
Is is on a public IP address be behind a firewall. All ports are open on the LAN.
Luke
Did you get any solution, coz i'm getting kind of similar issue with my newly build 6.5 environment.
I am having the same issue, but I have already added several hosts that were built the exact same way.
I can add the host using the IP address.
Yes I have verified that DNS is working as I can ping the server by name.
Lockdown is not enabled
Any help is appreciated
thanks
