new scenario on our cluster - some questions about reservation etc

Hello together,

today we have one Cluster with some Hosts 🙂

we will add 3 additional hosts. On these hosts should run 6 DB machines.

at first - how can i configure a CPU / RAM guarantee for these machines ?

So - if some vmotion will be done by other hosts, cause of failure etc, that these 6 new machines will get their CPU / RAM, mybe other migrated machines "not"

these 6 machines are very important.

ressourcepool reasonable ? how...

i can prevent via DRS, that these 6 machines will be migrated to other host. Thats clear.

i hope you understand what i want.

For Reservation

Procedure

1. In the vSphere Client, right-click a virtual machine from the inventory and select Edit Settings.

2. In the Virtual Machine Properties window, select the Resources tab and select Memory.

3. In the Resource Allocation panel, select the Reserve all guest memory (All locked) check box.

4. Click OK.

Give high share values to these VMs so they power on first during host failure. Resource pools will be helpful because reservations have to be made available for newly added six VMs.
