need a few pointers to properly backup the VC database, and others?

Hi,

We have a small setup with 2 virtualizations blades and one management blade running VC and some admin tools. We are running 4.1.0 build 260247

I want to make sure that the VC.db gets dumped to an external server (which I'll do using a batch file).

Is the VC-DB the only db I need to pickup? Anything else I should grab?

I've figured out how to do manual backups in the MS Sql server management studio, but im not sure how to automate it to run everynight. Sorry, I'm really not a DB guy at all ! Right now i'm going into the Management studio and right clicking on "backup devices" and selecting "backup a database" and selecting the VC-DB and doing a full.

any ideas?

Hello.

Note: This discussion was moved from the VMware ESX™ 4 community to the VMware vCenter™ community.

The vCenter db alone should be enough, but you might also want to check out http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1029864

What version of SQL are you using?

Good Luck!
