i have a VM i am shutting down to migrate to new host and datastore. it fails at 30% with "operation timed out". The VM has doesn't have any attached ISOs via DVD. it is actually a Cisco Unity Connections Server deployed from Cisco OVA. two 500 GB vDISK, 7vCPUs, 8GB vRAM. tried going through logs on vcenter and host but not talented enough to find anything. we have moved all the other VMs successfull of this host to the new host and datastore.
Current Host - ESXi 5.5.0 build 1746018 - Local Storage
New Host - ESXi 6.0.0 Build 5050593 - FC SAN Storage
Hello,
Please see if the below KB article helps you get started :https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=10037...
since it isn't a "vmotion" does this still apply? i am shutting the VM down to move it. vMotion is not an option as current storage is local and not shared.
Have you tried powering off the VM directly on the ESXi host instead of the vCenter Server? Also, see if anything in this KB article helps: Unable to power off the virtual machine in an ESXi host (1014165) | VMware KB
